Chords and Melody

Musical compositions are made up of chords and melodies, and understanding chord progressions helps you analyze and write music. In this session, you’ll play Touch Instruments in GarageBand to explore a chord progression used in many popular songs.

Some artists create music by arranging prerecorded sounds, drumbeats, and other bits of music in new and creative ways. In this session, you’ll produce a short musical composition by arranging a sequence of prerecorded loops using GarageBand.

Even if you’ve never taken a music lesson, you already know how to play an instrument–your voice! You can make your voice louder, softer, higher, or lower to change the way you sound. In this session you’ll use GarageBand to record your voice–and add sound effects, music, and more–to create a podcast.
