I am a fourth year Health Science Teacher after previously spending 8 years as an athletic trainer in CCISD. I am a proud Carroll Tiger, who graduated with my Masters in Athletic Training from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center after obtaining my Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology - Exercise Science from the University of Houston. I love integrating technology in the classroom! After a crazy, technology crash course in 2020-21, it is important we now be sure we know how to best use it.

During the past 7 years with CCISD, I have served as a Social Studies teacher and currently serving as Department Chair of Social Studies at Browne Middle School. I completed my undergrad at Angelo State University and have a masters degree in geophysics from New Mexico Highlands University. I have been teaching in CCISD for the past 5 year. I believe that technology will help us close the gaps in various facets by making education more tangible for learners and increasing accessibility for students with demanding schedules.

This will be my fourth time presenting at Tech2Teach and am a two-time Teacher of the Year nominee for my campus. Currently, I serve as the instructional technology chairperson for my campus.

Celina Perez serves the Miller VLC as an Assessment and Accountability Advisor for the District’s Office of Assessment and Accountability. She received both her BBA in Accounting and Masters in Professional Accountancy in 1999 and MS in Agribusiness from Texas A&M University- Kingsville in 2004. She also received her MS in Educational Technology and Instructional Design from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and her Principal Certification from Lamar University. Celina has worked for CCISD for 9 years.

I earned a Master of Science in Kinesiology, 18 Spanish Graduate hours and 27 Doctoral hours in Texas A&M Kingsville. This is my third year in Grant Middle School. I taught High School Spanish Pre-AP, AP, and Dual language classes. I believe Blended Learning opens a new interesting way to teach/learn a school subject.

Assunta Burnside is who I am. I earned a BS in Microbiology and a BA in Foreign Language from NMSU. I joined CCISD at Branch Academy in fall 2015. I earned my Master of Public Health from GCU in fall 2020. I have taught high school science since 2006 and love what I do. In addition to science I educate my students in tobacco prevention and leadership. I get excited when I see my students leading others and educating them about science and/or tobacco prevention.

I am certified in EC - 6 Bilingual and LOTE Spanish. I love to create videos for my class and school and test new programs and technology. Diana Johnson is a graduate of Vincennes University with B.S. degrees in Special Education-Mild to Moderate Intervention and Elementary Education. She has been teaching for 9 years, currently teaching 8th Grade RLA at Driscoll Middle School. A small part of Blended Learning that Diana enjoys is that the amount of time she spends at the copier has dropped to zero. No more paper jams, running out of toner or lugging papers home to grade! Diana loves being paperless and she isn’t going back.

Sherry Jimenez, a 1989 King HS graduate, I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Southwest Texas State University (1993), my Master of Science Degree in Reading from TAMU-CC (1996) and my Librarian Certificate from the University of North Texas Denton (2007) & have worked the last 14 years at Galvan Elementary School as a Certified Librarian. In addition to promoting literacy I also teach a variety of technology skills in our computer lab.

My name is Nathanael Sanchez, and I am a district Math Specialist-Coach. Before becoming a math specialist, I taught at Roy Miller HS for 10 years. I have a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Texas A&M Corpus Christi, and I am also certified in tech apps grades K-12. I have always enjoyed pioneering technology into my classroom, always looking for ways to better reach my students, and I love to use technology to be more productive and time efficient.

My name is Gilbert Porter. I began teaching Spanish at Carroll HS in 2001 and taught Russian for four years. In 2006 I left at Collegiate High School and earned my National Board Certification in Spanish later that year. In 2010, I left the classroom to work for the American Federation of Teachers and I returned to Collegiate to teach Spanish using Canvas. I serve as the Instructional Technology Specialist for both Branch and Collegiate.

My name is Krystal Watson. I currently teach 10th grade English 2 at Collegiate High School. I graduated in 2012 with my English Masters and am currently a PhD candidate in Curriculum and Instruction at Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Teaching 21st century students necessitates the use of technology. In the present, it makes learning more fun. For the future, the students who sit in our classrooms need us to guide them and expand their technical knowledge to better prepare them for the workforce.

My name is Nora Casas-Garcia, I am the AVID Specialist. I just concluded my 23rd year of teaching, the most recent at Grant MS. I graduated from TAMUCC with both my Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction. I have had the great fortune of being an AVID Site Coordinator and teacher for the district when it was first adopted. I am excited to show how technology can support and enhance AVID strategies and student success.

I am so proud to be part of the Sanders family. I am a currently a third grade teacher. I have taught kindergarten, first, and second grade! I graduated from Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi in 2008. I have high expectations for ALL of my students; and believe that with hard work and dedication, anything is possible!
During my off time, I love to spend time with my family and friends. I also enjoy reading a great book, writing, and family road trips to San Antonio!
